Ankle Rotation
Overview
This metric calculates the amount of ankle rotation experienced during a crash impact. Excessive rotation indicates abnormal joint loading that exceeds the physiological tolerance of the ankle and surrounding structures, thereby serving as a predictor of injury risk. [1]
Required Signals
- Right and Left Ankle Angle Rotation (Radians) (X, Y, and Z)
Calculation
- Convert ankle rotation signals to degrees (if applicable)
- Filter ankle rotation signals (CFC = 180)
- Calculate the maximum value in each each axis (x, y, z) for both ankles
- Find start and finish position for each axis for both ankles
