WebSAT Documentation

Welcome to the documentation for the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) Web-based Signal Analysis Tools (WebSAT).

WebSAT is a browser-based workspace for reviewing crash-test data, transforming signals, calculating injury and vehicle metrics, and evaluating pedestrian component tests. It brings the test record, instrumentation channels, plots, calculated results, and exports into one application.

This guide explains the controls available in WebSAT. It is organized in the same order as the application's left sidebar:

• Signal Operations create new curves from selected signals.
• Injury Metrics calculate occupant or test-subject responses when the required instrumentation is available.
• Vehicle Analysis summarizes whole-vehicle test information and vehicle-level calculations.
• Component Evaluation evaluates supported pedestrian headform and legform tests.

Each function page explains when the button becomes available, which settings you can change, what WebSAT does with the inputs, and what appears in the results area. Metric pages also identify the applicable injury reference values, risk functions, and published sources.
