Abdomen Deflection Rate
Overview
Abdomen deflection rate refers to the speed at which the abdominal region of a crash test dummy deforms during loading.
Required Signals
- Rib Deflection, Chest Deflection, or Rib Abdomen Deflection (Y)
Calculation
- Filter the deflection data (CFC = 180)
- Truncate signal to start at 0 seconds (if applicable)
- Differentiate to calculate deflection rate
- Calculate peak deflection rate and corresponding time
- Compare to IARV
Injury Criteria
Abdomen deflection rate injury criteria [1].
| ATD | Thorax Deflection Rate (m/s) | Abdomen Deflection Rate (m/s) |
|---|---|---|
| SID - IIs | 8.3 | 8.3 |
| BioSID | 8.3 | 8.3 |
